Easter retreat - Befriending Shakyamuni

Thursday 17 April – Monday 21 April

Please book at the latest on 9.4.2025

If you need to cancel your participation, always remember to notify the center via email at keskus@triratna.fi. If you need to cancel at the last minute, on the day of the retreat, we kindly ask you to notify us via text message at 050 318 8621 (Abhayaloka). Please also include your name at the end of the message.

Be sure to bring your own bed linens or a sleeping bag, as well as a towel.

The retreat is a place of calm.

On retreats, a group of people gather together to deepen their practice. Therefore, it is important that all participants commit to staying for the entire retreat. People arriving or leaving at different times would disrupt the “retreat mandala” and inevitably affect everyone on the retreat.

If for some reason you are late for the start of the retreat or need to leave before the retreat ends, please contact the retreat leader before the retreat begins to discuss whether your participation is still possible.

We strive to avoid contact with the outside world during retreats, as this gives us the opportunity to calm down and distance ourselves from daily routines. We recommend turning off mobile phones for the duration of the retreat. If your loved ones need to contact you in an emergency during the retreat, they can send a text message to Abhayaloka’s phone (+358 50 318 8621).

After the retreat it is recommended to return to the world in a way that allows oneself space and time to land smoothly.

Life at the retreat

The food provided on the retreat is vegan – the only exception is cheese for those who wish to have it. Gluten-free crispbread and rice cakes are available. If you wish to have fresh gluten-free bread, please bring your own. We aim to accommodate allergies and other dietary restrictions for health reasons.

The retreat center has facilities for approximately 25 people. Accommodation is in rooms with 2 to 6 beds. There is only one bedroom with 1 bed. Men and women are accommodated in separate rooms. We welcome people regardless of gender, and if your identity is outside the gender binary please contact us to discuss accommodation options.

Most retreats offer an opportunity to use the sauna.

Daily tasks such as cooking, washing dishes, and heating the sauna are done together as part of Buddhist practice. At the end of the retreat, there will be a final cleaning, which all participants are asked to take part in.

Unfortunately, pets are not allowed at Abhayaloka (with the exception of guide dogs).

If you have any questions regarding the retreats, please send an email us: keskus@triratna.fi.
